Feeling Disconnected? Find Your True Self Again
If you’ve been so busy taking care of everyone else, it’s time to refocus on you.

Life moves fast, and it’s easy to get caught up in the roles you play - mother, partner, professional, caregiver or friend. While these roles bring meaning and purpose, they can also make you feel like you’ve lost a part of yourself.
When was the last time you did something just for YOU, not because someone else needed it?
In this week's newsletter, we’re diving into why reconnecting with yourself is so important and how you can rediscover what truly fulfills you.

Why You Might Feel Disconnected
Many women spend years prioritising everyone else, often without even realising it. Over time, this can lead to a feeling of emptiness or restlessness - like something is missing. It’s not that you don’t love your family, your career, or your responsibilities, but there’s a part of you that’s been left behind.
You might notice it when:
Your calendar is full, but you still feel unfulfilled.
You struggle to answer the question, "What do you love to do?"
You feel guilty when taking time for yourself.
You miss the passions or hobbies you once enjoyed.
This isn’t selfish - it’s a sign that you need to reconnect with what makes YOU feel alive.
Rediscovering What Brings You Joy
Reconnecting with yourself doesn’t require a dramatic life change. It starts with small steps that help you remember what makes you feel excited, energised, and fulfilled.
1. Make Space for Quiet Reflection
In the middle of busy schedules and constant distractions, it’s hard to hear your own thoughts. Take a few moments each day to be still - whether it’s through journalling, meditation, or a simple walk without your phone. Ask yourself: What do I miss doing? What excites me? The answers might surprise you.
2. Revisit Past Passions
Think back to activities that once brought you joy. Did you love painting? Reading for hours? Dancing? Writing? Travelling? Often, we abandon hobbies because life gets in the way, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pick them up again.
3. Say Yes to Yourself
It’s easy to say "yes" to commitments for others while saying "no" to things you want to do. Start shifting that balance. Give yourself permission to sign up for that class, take that solo trip, or spend a morning doing something just for you without guilt.
4. Surround Yourself with Inspiration
Sometimes, reconnecting with yourself means surrounding yourself with people, places, or experiences that inspire you. Spend time with those who lift you up, explore new places, or try something outside of your comfort zone. The more you explore, the more you’ll uncover about yourself.
5. Let Go of the Guilt
You are allowed to exist outside of your responsibilities. Taking time for yourself doesn’t make you any less of a mother, partner, or professional it makes you a more fulfilled, happier version of yourself.
Start Today: A Simple Exercise
Set aside 10 minutes today and write down:
Three things you used to love doing but haven’t done in a while.
One small step you can take this week to reintroduce something that brings you joy.
A commitment to yourself, whether it’s setting aside time each week for your passion or simply allowing yourself to explore new interests.
Reconnecting with yourself is a journey, not a destination. Start small, be patient, and remember—you deserve to feel fulfilled, not just for what you do for others, but for who you are.

Recipe of the Week: Mediterranean Stuffed Aubergines with Spiced Lamb

Ingredients
2 large aubergines (eggplants)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
250g minced lamb
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp tomato purée
200g cherry tomatoes, halved
2 tbsp pine nuts (optional)
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
2 tbsp crumbled feta cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Method
Prepare the Aubergines: Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan). Slice the aubergines in half lengthwise and scoop out some of the flesh, leaving a thin border. Brush with 1 tbsp olive oil, season with salt, and place cut-side down on a baking tray. Roast for 20 minutes until softened.
Cook the Filling: Heat the remaining olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until soft. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute. Add the minced lamb, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned.
Season & Simmer: Stir in cumin, cinnamon, smoked paprika, and tomato puree. Add cherry tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes until softened. Season with salt and pepper. Stir in pine nuts and half of the parsley.
Stuff & Bake: Remove the aubergines from the oven, turn them over, and fill each half with the lamb mixture. Sprinkle with feta and return to the oven for another 10 minutes until golden.
Serve & Enjoy: Garnish with the remaining parsley and serve warm. Pair with a fresh green salad or a side of roasted vegetables.
This dish is rich in protein and healthy fats, keeping you full and energised. The warming spices, roasted aubergines, and creamy feta create a comforting, balanced meal - perfect for a quiet, reflective evening or a nourishing dinner with loved ones.
